- After two years of virtual meetings, Latam Mobility returns with a large on-site Summit on a regional scale, to be held in Medellin on June 8 and 9.
- More than 500 national and international executives will discuss the future of mobility in Colombia.
- Leading global organizations like Porsche, Amazon or Blink Charging will be among the meeting’s partners, with an agenda featuring the main elements of sustainable mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Sustainable Mobility leading community in Latin America, Latam Mobility, arrives once again at the Orquideorama del Jardín Botánico in Medellín between June 9 and 10 to bring together the main actors of the sector, at a moment in which the transportation transition is going through a great momentum towards the carbon neutrality that Colombia has set for 2050.
After Latam Mobility moved its meetings to digital platforms in March 2020, it organized nine Virtual Summits that were attended by mayors, secretaries, ministers and presidents of Colombia and Costa Rica, reaching more than 52,000 executives in Latin America and the world.
For 2022, the organization has planned a calendar that includes three major capitals of sustainable mobility, such as Medellin, Santiago and Mexico City.
To date, the meeting to be held at the Colombian city will be supported by a set of associations and organizations, among which stand out: ProColombia, ACI Medellin, the Embassy of Spain in Colombia, the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Colombia, Cities Forum, Greater Medellin Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cluster Energía Sostenible and Fedebiocombustibles.
Why Colombia?
On February 15, 2022, leading Colombian private sector companies announced the arrival of 172 new electric buses, bringing to 655 the number of these units in the country’s fleets, nearing the 1,485 that will be in operation before the end of 2022.
“Colombia is one of the main markets for sustainable mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean. The country has ambitious goals in electric vehicle adoption and strong policies for the promotion of clean fuels. It is undoubtedly a key country, which makes us feel at home. We have hundreds of allies committed to mobility transformation,” says Latam Mobility Co-Founder, Rebeca González.
“We return with great enthusiasm to physical Summits after two years of virtuality and we have decided to bet on a larger exhibition space, as well as an agenda with a wider range of topics, during a meeting that already has more than 50 institutional allies such as PROCOLOMBIA, ACI Medellin and the Embassy of Spain,” said Gonzalez.
Major Companies in the Industry: Amazon, General Motors and Blink will be Present
The meeting’s agenda will include a wide variety of topics related to sustainable mobility and its development in Colombia from the sector’s leaders.
Likewise, the world’s largest e-commerce company, Amazon, has made progress towards achieving its zero emissions targets with the acquisition of 100,000 electric delivery vans, a fact that will lead the company closer to meeting its commitments under the Paris Agreement, 10 years earlier than expected.
Meanwhile, Blink Charging plans the massive expansion of its fast charging stations and household infrastructure, with its new range of products including up to seven chargers with technologies and power ratings that vary according to the consumer’s needs.
In this way, the meeting that will take place at the Orquideorama del Jardín Botánico in Medellín promises to consolidate the timely pathways towards the transport sector’s decarbonization.
