10th Latam Mobility Summit: Subsecretary of Transport of Chile and Subsecretary of Energy of Uruguay will trace the decarbonization path for Latin America

The 10th Sustainable Mobility Summit hosted by Latam Mobility is coming up, where leading members from the public sector of different Latin American countries will meet on October 8th and 9th to discuss priority measures to be implemented immediately to minimize the carbon footprint across different transportation modes.

The first day of the three day virtual Summit will be dedicated to South American nations that have made progress over the last few months in terms of laws and incentives for promoting sustainable mobility, including Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

The Minister of Transportation and Public Works of Ecuador, Marcelo Cabrera, will welcome the participants and offer a brief overview on the efforts made by his office to promote a cleaner mobility.

Discussions will initiate with the panel entitled “Sustainable mobility as an Ally for the Economy Decarbonization of South American Countries”, with the leading participation of the Subsecretary of Transportation from Chile, José Luis Domínguez, alongside the Subsecretary of Industry, Energy and Mining from Uruguay, Walter Verri.

Both will offer an update on the actions that their countries will take to achieve a considerable CO2 emissions reduction from automobiles, opening opportunities for considerable investments from the private sector, and promoting the use of non-polluting vehicles.

The Mobility Secretary from Rosario City (Argentina), Eva Jokanovich, and the Sustainable Mobility and Road Education Director of ATM Guayaquil, Alvaro Miranda, will also be part of the debate, led by the Co-Founder of the Spanish organization, Cities-Forum, Jaime Ruiz Huescar.

Representatives from leading Mobility as a Service (MaaS) promoters, including Geotab and Optibus, will evaluate the prospects and current status of the area, a field marked by radical changes since the arrival of the global pandemic caused by Covid-19.

The Third Virtual Summit 2021, organized by Latam Mobility, will have the lithium sustainable production and charging infrastructure development as the main topic of discussion, being addressed by key players from companies such as SQM (Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile), Blink Charging, Heliox Energy, Enel X and Wallbox.

The event will be an opportunity for a meeting between public authorities, manufacturers, solution and service providers. The debate will be held in Portuguese.

The 10th Latin American Sustainable Mobility Summit will conclude with a meeting of global interest, the second edition of the “Green Racing Virtual Summit”, an English-language session that will bring together drivers from different zero-emission motor racing competitions, as well as directors and CEOs of these series, which not only provide excitement and adrenaline all over the world, but also serve as a “laboratory” for the vehicles of the future.
